Master-Class for students.
Karazin University held a master-class for students conducted by French cartoonist Gabs (Allan Gabier).
During the meeting the artist shared his vision of the content of poetry, its role in a person’s life: “In France most believe poetry to be analytical, intellectual, requiring additional preparation. However, in fact, poetry can be understandable for everyone as it is adapted to life, oriented to reality.”
“For me, the author is not the main thing, but poetry itself is. I do not illustrate works, but use my pencil to reproduce the ideas, and thoughts that are born in my head while reading them,” stresses Gabs pointing out that he can create anywhere whenever he has free time: at the bus stop, in a queue, etc.
The artist believes that all poetic works can be devoted to three themes: love, time, death. Most of Gabs’s drawings are created under the influence of poetry of Guillaume Apollinaire, Charles Baudelaire, Victor Hugo, Charles Bukowski and others.
