Discussing the language system studies, the main translation principles and problems, translation of genre texts, discourse-related problems, text stylistics and linguistics.
On April 15, 2016, Karazin University held the International Student Scientific Conference “Karazin Readings: Foreign Philology. Searching for the Young”. The conference organizer was the School of Foreign Languages.
The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Character Building of the School of Foreign Languages,Serhii Mashchenko, welcomed those present.
The Head of the Student Scientific Society of the School of Foreign Languages, Svitlana Tarasova, pointed out that the conference is a small anniversary. Participation of students in scientific research has become a good tradition at the University, and the subject matters and geography of our relations are expanding. The Head of the Student Scientific Society of the University, Bohdan Dykan, wished the participants to gain experience in scholarly research and academic communication, and to meet like-minded people.
During the plenary meeting, the scholars made their reports on the phenomenon of political correctness in modern francophonie, the genre ‘chicklit’ in English literature and the peculiarities of its translation into Ukrainian, adult problems of children’s literature reflected in translation, mnemonics and the use of its methods in foreign language learning and teaching, the peculiarities of proper names translation in the Chinese language, etc.
The conference work continued in section sessions where the paticipants discussed the language system studies, the main translation principles and problems, translation of genre texts, discourse-related problems, text stylistics and linguistics, literature of foreign countries, methodological principles of foreign language teaching.
