International Conference on Methodological, Psychological and Pedagogical Problems of Teaching Foreign Languages

The results of the VIII International Scientific and Methodological Conference “Methodological, Psychological and Pedagogical Problems of Teaching Foreign Languages at the Present Stage: Ways of Secondary and Higher School Integration”.


On April 22, 2016, the School of Foreign Languages held the VIII International Scientific and Methodological Conference “Methodological, Psychological and Pedagogical Problems of Teaching Foreign Languages at the Present Stage: Ways of Secondary and Higher School Integration”. The event took place under the aegis of the Year of English in Ukraine. This year two departments of the School, namely the Department of Foreign Language Teaching Methods and Practice, and the Department of English Language arranged all preparations. The conference is a common project with Kharkiv Academy of Continuing Education, whose compulsory constituent is to involve the teachers of secondary schools in participating.

The participants’ reports of the plenary meeting revealed a wide range of issues connected with the foreign languages teaching: teaching of pre-school children, a creative approach to training the students-philologists, issues of final examinations in English for school children, psychological problems of teaching, learning pupils and students (lifeskills required for their life), and preparation of publications according to the European standards.

There were five sections working fruitfully. The participants discussed the general problems of learning and control, professional training in a foreign language and interactive methods for teaching foreign languages. Within the framework of the conference, there were four master-classes working, whose topics concerned the use of infographics, the ways of raising the level of teachers’ professional competence, and the use of innovation technologies for teaching foreign languages.

The conference brought together 154 participators from 8 countries, Ukraine, Byelorussia, Russia, the USA, Peru, the Netherlands, Switzerland, German. The Ukrainian higher educational institutions represented V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Odesa National Academy of Food Technologies, Donetsk State University of Management.

The conference organising committee expresses its deep gratitude to those, who participated in the conference organization, working of plenary and section meetings and master-classes, who took part remotely in the conference and to all those, thanks to whom the conference was effective, successful and warm-hearted.
