Linguistic Seminar of the School of Foreign Languages

Discussing the PhD theses written by the School’s postgraduate students.


On November 15, 2016, the School of Foreign Languages held a joint meeting of its Departments called the Linguistic Seminar. Within the framework of the seminar, the participants discussed the PhD theses written by the School’s postgraduate students, Iryna Kotova (Verbal Implementation of Concepts 'Hero' / 'Anti-Hero' in English-Language Discourse), Tetiana Smoliana (The Text of German Maxim: Cognitive and Discourse Aspects) and Veronika Khoroshylova (Speech Implementation of the Strategy of Offence in German-Language Internet Discourse).

During the seminar, the authors of theses presented their preliminary research conclusions in the format of multimedia presentations. It excited a lively discussion. The discussion resulted in taking the decision to recommend thesis research for the defense for PhD in Philology.
