International Conference “Fiction Phenomena in History of World Literature”

International Conference “Fiction Phenomena in History of World Literature”

Presentation of the international scientific electronic journal “Accents and Paradoxes of Modern Philology”.

On April 7, 2017, the Department of Romance Philology and Translation of the School of Foreign languages held the International Scientific Conference “Fiction Phenomena in History of World Literature: Transition of Language into Authorship" (“Ecocentrism: Culture and Nature”) that brought together about 100 scholars from above 40 world universities: Italy, Canada, Lithuania, Slovakia, Ukraine, France.

The Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Valentyna Pasynok, and the Head of the Department of Romance Philology and Translation Svitlana Kryvoruchko, welcomed all the participants and guests of the conference and wished success in their work and fruitful discussion. Within the framework of the conference there was held a presentation of the new international electronic journal “Accents and Paradoxes of Modern Philology” that will be published in English. The main aim of the journal is to share various perceptions of world literatures of different nationalities in literary, translation and linguistic perspectives.

The term ‘ecocriticism’ was used for the first time in the USA in late 1970s; later, in 1990s, the term ‘ecologic’ appeared in Great Britain. Within the framework of the ecocritical approach, the scholars of the conference looked upon the concept of conceptual ethic responsibility, growth, balance, imbalance, flow biorhythms, bioenergy, harmony, transcendence and transparency in poetics of literary works.

The conference program (in Ukrainian, PDF, 408 Kb) included a plenary meeting and section sessions, an excursion about the University History Museum, a theatrical performance and a city tour.
