All-Ukrainian Science Conference "Actual Problems of Translation Studies and Translation Teaching Methods"

The School of Foreign Languages held the All-Ukrainian Science Conference "Actual Problems of Translation Studies and Translation Teaching Methods".


On May 25-26, 2013 the School of Foreign Languages held the All-Ukrainian science conference "Actual Problems of Translation Studies and Translation Teaching Methods". More than 100 conference participants had fruitful discussions and shared the latest results of their research.

Within the framework of the conference there was also held festivities to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Department of English Translation Theory and Practice.

The conference work resulted in a collective monograph by the Department’s faculty and a compendium of literary works by graduates of the Translation Studio that successfully functioned at the Department headed by the famous writer and translator Inna Volodymyrivna Melnytska.

On the first day of the conference the plenary meetings presented reports by the leading national experts in Translation Theory and Methods: Vladyslava Valentynivna Demetska, Leonid Mykolaiovych Chernovatyi, Olena Ivanivna Panchenko and the foreign guests of the conference: Maria Kusy (Slovakia), Luc van Doorslaer (Belgium), and Natali Kamovnikova (Russia).

The second day of the conference began with a lecture by the famous translator Maksym Vitaliiovych Strikha touching upon the current state of translation studies in Ukraine followed by section work.

The Organizing Committee would like to thank all the guests of the conference and wish them further success in their research and work.
