“Forum of Young Anglists: First Steps Towards Discovery”

The School of Foreign Languages held the student scientific conference “Forum of Young Anglists: First Steps Towards Discovery”.


On May 23, 2013 the Department of English Philology held the scientific conference “Forum of Young Anglists: First Steps Towards Discovery” for third-year students majoring in Philology.

The goal of the conference was to popularize scientific search among young philologists, to encourage beginning scholars to conduct their own independent research and to provide them with an opportunity to gain their first experience in participating in conference-type events.

The conference worked under the following Sections:

  • Pressing issues of text stylistics and linguistics (coordinator: Lecturer Ye. S. Novikova);
  • Pressing issues of discursive studies No. 1 (coordinator: PhD in Philology, Senior Lecturer V. V. Kukushkin) ;
  • Pressing issues of discursive studies No. 2 (coordinator: Lecturer Yu. V. Klymenko);
  • Pressing issues of cognitive linguistics and conceptology (coordinator: Lecturer O. V. Sukhovirska);
  • Pressing issues of non-verbal communication (coordinator: Lecturer O. H. Zvierieva);
  • Pressing issues of foreign language teaching methods (coordinator: Lecturer A. V. Myrhorodova);
  • Pressing issues of grammar, vocabulary, syntax and language statistics (coordinator: Candidate of Education, Associate Professor T. K. Varenko).

During the conference the students and their academic supervisors participated in discussing pressing issues of modern linguistics and methods of teaching foreign languages, shared their scientific discoveries and achievements made in the process of writing their course papers.
