XXIV Week of the Italian Language in the World at the School of Foreign Languages of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University

Students and teachers of the School of Foreign Languages ​​joined the events on the occasion of the XXIV Week of the Italian Language in the World!

On 16 October 2024, students and professors of the Italian language at the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology of the School of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University joined the events dedicated to the XXIV Italian Language Week, which was held under the theme ‘L'Italiano e il libro: il mondo fra le righe’ (‘The Italian language and the book: the world between the lines’). As part of the Week, students and professors of the Italian language held a student research conference ‘La rappresentazione dell'Italia nel romanzo contemporaneo’ (‘The Representation of Italy in ContemporaryNovel’). The conference participants were greeted by Carlo COLONNELLA, Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Ukraine, Olha MATVIYCHUK, Deputy Dean for International Activities of the School of Foreign Languages, Director of the International Centre for Language Training and Certification of the School of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The main organiser of the event, Tetiana CHERKASHYNA, Full Professor of the Romance and Germanic Philology Department at the School of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, spoke about the history and present of Karazin Italian Studies, and the increased attention of contemporary scholars to the study of literary ethno-imaginative images. Second, third and fourth year students of the School of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University Anastasiia HETMAN, Mariia RUBLENKO, Aliona HAPON, Viktoria SVIRSKA, Diana YALOVA, Hanna KREKHOVA presented in their research reports a modern vision of the image of Italy presented in the novels by Elena FERRANTE, Sandro VARONESI, Marco MISSIRONI, Andrea CAMILLERI, Elizabeth HILBERT. At the end of the conference, the 1st-4th year undergraduate Italian students of the School of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University together with their Italian language professors Inna BEZRUK and Iryna SKRYPNIK discussed the presentations and expressed their own thoughts on the conference topic.
