The Department of Romance and Germanic Philology of the School of Foreign Languages became part of a quadripartite agreement!

In January 2025, the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology of the School of Foreign Languages became part of a quadripartite agreement between three Ukrainian universities (V. N. Karazin National University Kharkiv, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Yuriy Fedkovych National University of Chernivtsi) and one German university - the Free University of Berlin - within the framework of the GIP (Germanic Institutional Partnership) programme.

The first event of the three-year programme was a winter school for students and researchers from the universities participating in the agreement entitled ‘Literatur erleben. Deutsch-ukrainische Begegnungen‘ (’To feel literature. German-Ukrainian meetings"), organised by the Institute of German and Dutch Philology. Karazin University was represented by Professor Liliia Bezugla, Associate Professor Nataliia Onishchenko, Master's student Valeriia Kovalenko, Bachelor's students Valeriia Tryzna, Sofia Kovalenko, Alina Lytvynenko, Kateryna Hnatenko, and Ruslana Shovkoplias. During the lectures, workshops and cultural events, the participants had the opportunity to learn about the principles of theatre pedagogy, analysis of poetry and prose texts, creative writing, as well as the history of German-language literature in Ukraine and Ukrainian ‘places of memory’ in the cultural landscape of Berlin. We look forward to further fruitful cooperation!
