Course of Lectures by Svitlana Zhabotynska

“Semantics of Lingual Networks: Theory and Practice”.


On April 4 2015 the School of Foreign Languages held a series of lectures by a leading Ukrainian specialist in cognitive linguistics, whose works are well-known far abroad, Full Professor of Bogdan Khmelnitsky Cherkasy National University Svitlana Zhabotynska.

The lectures were given under the title: “Semantics of Lingual Networks: Theory and Practice”. The target audience included postgraduate and degree-seeking students, faculty members — all the scientists whose research is aimed at developing the cognitive discourse direction of Kharkiv linguistic school.

The main topic of the lectures that ended in a discussion was in particular the description of the basic propositional schemes as the instruments for interframe modeling when studying semantics of lingual networks.

The practical part of the lectures demonstrated the model of an interactive dictionary, compiled using the aforementioned principle. The course also presented the new monograph-dictionary by Svitlana Zhabotynska.
