International Cooperation

At the final stage of the project "Developing Foreign Language Teacher Training Capacity as a Pathway to Multilingual Education and European Integration of Ukraine / MultiEd", a study visit to Aston University, Birmingham, UK, took place. From 2 to 6 October 2023, representatives of Karazin University - project manager, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages Svitlana Virotchenko and member of the working group, Acting Head of the Department of English Philology and Foreign Language Teaching Methods Iryna Morozova - took part in lectures and roundtable discussions on modern methods of teacher training, multilingualism in higher education and beyond, and the challenges of artificial intelligence as a teaching tool. The British colleagues also shared their experience of working on other projects, such as English Teachers for Europe's Future. On the last day of the visit, the delegation of Ukrainian educators was received at Birmingham City Hall.


The MultiEd project has reached the stage of quality control.

From 16 to 19 August 2023, a meeting of the MultiEd Erasmus+ Quality Control Group took place at V. Hnatiuk TNPU, which was attended by the Dean of the School of Foreign Languages Svitlana Virotchenko. The project team had four working days to check the quality of the work packages and prepare a general report. A significant event was the meeting with Svitlana Shytikova, the NEO coordinator in Ukraine. During the meeting, representatives of the partner universities shared the achievements of the project and drew attention to the importance of sustainability. Work has been done to analyse the effectiveness of the results of the MultiEd project at partner universities. During the zoom meetings with Dr SueGarton (Aston University) and Dr JuttaRymarczyk (Heidelberg University of Education), the issues of implementing the e-course "CLILMethodology" and new and updated training courses developed on the basis of the CLIL methodology at each university were discussed and ways of their further implementation were identified. MultiEd study visit "Estonia - the Nation of Education"

From 21 May to 27 May 2023, as part of the Erasmus+ K2 project "Developing Foreign Language Teacher Training Capacity as a Pathway to Multilingual Education and European Integration of Ukraine / MultiEd", a study visit to Estonia was held to learn about the experience of this country, which is a European leader in the provision of educational services. The visit was attended by project partners from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Zaporizhzhia National University, V.O. Sukhomlynskyi Mykolaiv National University, V.G. Korolenko Poltava National Pedagogical University, Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Volodymyr Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University, and Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Cherkasy National University. The School of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was represented by Dean Svitlana VIROTCHENKO, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages for Professional Purposes Anna KOTOVA and Acting Head of the Department of English Philology and Foreign Language Teaching Methods Iryna MOROZOVA.

The participants of the visit took part in interactive lectures and seminars on the strategic vision and challenges of modern Estonian higher education, teacher training at universities and cooperation between schools and higher education institutions in this area, teacher training at Narva College and in-service teacher training in Estonia, equal opportunities and high efficiency of Estonian education (based on the results of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), international cooperation at the University of Tartu and the University of Estonia.

There were also working visits on language immersion (Narva), teaching English in public gymnasiums (Narva and Tartu) and support for learning Estonian (Tallinn).

The organisers of the study visit gave everyone the opportunity to learn about Estonian history and culture through a number of cultural events, one of the most exciting of which was an excursion to the open-air museum "Estonian Language is at the Intersection of Tradition, Lifestyle and National Character".
