Day of School of Foreign Languages

The School Celebrates its 85th Anniversary

On April 30, 2015 the School of Foreign Languages celebrated its 85th anniversary! The Student Academic Council of the School, and the Trade Union Committee organized a bright celebration on the occasion. April 30 being International Day of Jazz, this year’s School's birthday was themed accordingly, and held under the title “Foreign Languages Like it Hot.”

At 9:30 a.m. the School held a solemn opening ceremony near the entrance to the University Main Building: everyone had an opportunity to enjoy jazz music, take part in entertaining contests, taste custom-made biscuits with the School emblem on them, and win various presents. Everyone interested could turn into the Hollywood actors awarded the “Oscar”, taking photos near the special stand. The University was immersed with us into the atmosphere of 1930s, the era of Jazz music, unrestrained dancing and magnificent Marilyn Monroe.

At 3:00 p.m. the School held a festive concert where first-year students recreated their brilliant show from the contest “Alma Mater – 2015”. Furthermore, the students of YaA-24 group with their Chinese language lecturer Iryna Freher presented their creative performance. The second-year students (Iryna Yanovska, Anastasiia Savchenko, Olena Shostak, Margaryta Topylo, Lilit Hiulnazarian, and Arsen Mamaiev), and Yelizaveta Hoderdzishvili, a third-year student, participant of the beauty pageant “Miss University – 2015”, also demonstrated their talents. Andrii Lavrenovych, the Head of the Student Academic Council of the University, and this year's alumnus of the School, finished the show. The School's leadership, members of the Student Academic Council and the Trade Union Committee were awarded commendations.
