Workshop “Interpretation for OSCE/ODIHR at Local Elections in Ukraine 2015”

Workshop for MS students in International Economic Relations.

On October 29, the Department of Business Foreign Language and Translation held a workshop for MS students in international economic relations conducted by the lecturer of the Department, interpreter for OSCE/ODIHR (Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights) official observers in Kharkiv, O. V. Maksymenko.

Ms. Maksymenko told the studentsabout the peculiarities and challenges of the interpreter’s work at this year’s October elections as compared to the Presidential elections 2010 and the Parliamentary elections 2014.

In particular, Ms. Maksymenko shared her experience in consecutive interpretation and cross-cultural communication with the observers from different countries.

The students highly appreciated the workshop, for socio-political interpretation and translation are among the career-specific areas of their future profession.
