March 8 is International Women's Day established to celebrate working solidarity, struggle for equal rights and emancipation. The first celebration of the day took place in the USA in 1909, and in 1977 the UN granted it the status of international. After that it got the name "International Day for Women's Rights and World Peace".
Today, it is a holiday of spring, feminine beauty and love, time for women to receive greetings all over the world. Among Karazin University community representatives there are a lot of distinguished women scholars and scientists whose scientific ideas and inventions have made significant contributions to the world's science. Among them there are representatives of exact and humanitarian sciences, particularly experts in biophysics of membranes, biochemistry of connective tissue, botany, gerontology, history, medicine, pedagogy, psychology, radiophysics, sociology, signal transduction, physical chemistry, philosophy, philology, law.
Let us congratulate all women on this holiday and wish them high scientific and personal achievements, inspiration and sound health!
