Wrap-up.


On May 25, 2016, the Department of English Philology held the student conference “VI Bachelor’s Readings: Forum of Young Anglists”. The further work of the conference continued within the framework of the sections.

  • Media discourse studies: traditional and new media (moderators: Associate Professor Emiliia Papoviants, Associate Professor Anastasiia Pshenychnykh);
  • Relevant issues of cognitive linguistics and discoursology (moderators: Professor Yevheniia Bondarenko, Associate Professor Vladyslav Kukushkin);
  • Text linguistics 1 (moderators: Professor Viktoriia Samokhina, Associate Professor Olena Nefodova, Lecturer Yevheniia Naidina);
  • Text linguistics 2 (moderators: Associate Professor Oksana Lobova, Lecturer Svitlana Tarasova);
  • Pressing issues of linguodidactics and pedagogical discourse studies (moderators: Associate Professor Iryna Morozova, Associate Professor Tetiana Varenko);
  • Communicative linguistics 1: pragmatics of strategy and nonverbal aspects of communication (moderators: Professor Liudmyla Soloshchuk, Associate Professor Olena Shpak);
  • Communicative linguistics 2: intercultural and linguocultural communication studies (moderators: Associate Professor Yuliia Matiukhina, Associate Professor Mykhailo Kotov, Lecturer Iryna Kotova).

The subject matter of the discussion: the interaction between language system and other semiotic systems (visual and musical images) based on the material of such traditional and new media as advertising, movies, the Internet, books (prose and poetry); the determination of the individual author’s concept, the reliability of statistical studies; the realization of a factual function, the manifestation of the peculiarities of English culture through the prism of announcements, communication strategies in political discourse, discursive identity in the intercultural interaction situation; issues of the comic, varieties of creolized texts, precedentness; problems of humor (everyday/of manners and institutional, comic tools); general theoretical issues of linguodidactics, pressing issues of oral practice teaching; politeness strategies in different types of discourse, nonverbal aspects of communication, speech act theory, etc.
