International Student Scientific Conference “Karazin Readings: Foreign Philology. Searching for the Young”

Presentation of the students' reports.


On April 14, 2017, the School of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University held the ХVІ International Student Scientific Conference “Karazin Readings: Foreign Philology. Searching for the Young".

The Associate Deans of the School of Foreign Languages – Polina Gusieva and Nataliia Onishchenko, and the Head of the Student Scientific Society Svitlana Tarasova welcomed the participants and guests of the conference and wished them creative success and a fruitful discussion.

At the plenary meeting, those present heard the reports made by the students of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University Zamira Haibatova “Satire and Sarcasm in English Communicative Online Space” (research advisor: Professor V. O. Samokhina), Yuliia Rudich “Standardization of Translation of Key Linguistic Units in Informative Texts (based on the instructions of medicine)” (research advisor: Professor I.Ye. Frolova), Yevheniia Horokhovtseva “Central German Dialect: Lexical and Phonetic Aspects” (research advisor: Associate Professor N. A. Onishchenko), Nataliia Ivchenko “Comic Reflection of Anthroponym (based on Roald Dahl’s fairy-tale novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”)" (research advisor: Professor V. O. Samokhina), Tamara Zhamakochian “Armenian Layer in French Literature of the XX Century” (research advisor: Professor S. K. Kryvoruchko); of I. I. Mechnikov Odesa National University Vira Kompaniiets “Phraseological Representation of Emotional State “Grief” (based on the French language)” (research advisor: Associate Professor A. V. Mlynchyk); of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” Marharyta Vorozhbit “Lexical and Stylistic Peculiarities of Translation of English Media Texts into Ukrainian” (research advisor: Associate Professor N. M. Akopiants).

After the plenary meeting, further work of the conference continued within the framework of section sessions addressing the following areas of research:

  • General translation.
  • Specialized translation.
  • Discourse, style, social dialect.
  • Pragmalinguistics in the language system.
  • Literature studies. Problems of text stylistics and linguistics.
  • Methodological principles of teaching foreign languages.
  • Problems of Oriental languages.

Another item on the agenda of the conference was the round table “Academic Integrity of Students”.
