Best Literary Translation Contest: Wrap-Up

The awarding ceremony will be held at the XIII International Student Science Conference "Karazin Readings: Foreign Philology. Search for the Young".

On April 7, 2014, Karazin University announced the names of the winners in the Best Literary Translation Contest organized by the Department of English Translation Theory and Practice and held with participation of alumni and students of the University as well as pupils of secondary schools of Kharkiv. On the whole, 85 works were submitted for the contest.

The contest jury comprised Dean of the School of Foreign Languages Valentyna Pasynok, Associate Professors Oleksandr Kalnychenko and Tetiana Lukianova (Department of English Translation Theory and Practice), lecturer Liudmyla Bohoslavska from the same Department and famous Kharkiv translators Kateryna Voronina, Ihor Ilin, Serhii Aleksandrovskyi, Serhii Potimkov.

The first place under the nomination “Children’s piece” was awarded to Nataliia Tretiakova, student from the School of Philology, the second and the third places were taken by Yuliia Rudich and Hanna Tashchenko, participants from the School of Foreign Languages.

The winners in the other three nominations are representatives of the School of Foreign Languages:

Nomination “Poetry piece translation”

  • I place — Anastasiia Vakula,
  • II place — Kateryna Vakula,
  • III place — Mariia Nemynushcha.

Nomination “Dramatical piece translation”

  • I place — Hanna Tashchenko,
  • II place — Anastasiia Barinova,
  • III place — Yana Chernyshova.

Nomination “Prose”

  • I place — Kateryna Herasymenko,
  • II place — Kateryna Lyvshenko,
  • III place — Anastasiia Hlebova.

The awarding ceremony will be held at the Plenary meeting of the XIII International Student Science Conference “Karazin Readings: Foreign Philology. Search for the Young” to take place at Karazin University on April 18, 2014.
