XXIV Week of the Italian Language in the World at the School of Foreign Languages of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University

On 16 October 2025, Italian language students and lecturers from the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University participated in events marking the XXV Week of Italian Language in the World, which took place under the theme "Italofonia: lingua oltre i confini".

As part of the Week, Italian studies specialists from Karazin University organised a student research conference on this theme. The principal organiser of the event, Full Professor Tetiana CHERKASHYNA from the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, spoke about the concept of Italophony, the Italian language worldwide, and Italian studies at Karazin University. Yuliia PUDDUBNA, a lecturer in Italian at the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, spoke to those present about Italophony as a lifestyle. Second-year students from the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Karazin University – Mariia IHNATENKO, Mariia KOVALOVA, Violetta LYTVYNOVA, Snizhana NESTERENKO, Ruslana SHKARLAT and Valeriia YURIEVA – presented their scholarly papers on the vision of contemporary Italophone music. Third-year students from the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Karazin University – Anastasia HETMAN, Mariia RUBLENKO and Viktoriia KONONOVA – presented the contemporary gastronomic world of Italy. At the conclusion of the conference, Italian language students from years 1–3 of the bachelor's programme at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, together with the Italian lecturers Inna BEZRUK and Yuliia PIDDUBNA, and with Full Professor Tetiana CHERKASHYNA from the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology, discussed the presentations heard and shared their own views on the conference theme.
