The VI All-Ukrainian Student Scientific Conference "Romance Languages ​​and Civilization" was held

On 21 November 2024, the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology of the School of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University held the VI Ukrainian Student Scientific Conference ‘Romance Languages and Civilisation’. The organising committee was headed by Tetiana Cherkashyna, Doctor of Philology, Full Professor, Full Professor of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology of the School of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

The conference was held in the form of video presentations on topics related to Romance languages and civilisation. This year's conference brought together about 70 students from different universities in Ukraine. The videos were presented in three nominations: ‘Spanish Language and Civilisation’, ‘Italian Language and Civilisation’, and ‘French Language and Civilisation’. The audience and Karazin experts noted the high level of the presented videos, their topics (linguistic features of languages, literature, history, architecture, cinema, music, painting, gastronomy of Romance-speaking countries, stereotypes associated with these countries), and creative ways of expressing the topics.

The organisers of the conference expressed their sincere gratitude to all the participants for joining the event and for their incredibly interesting, informative and professionally produced videos on the selected topics. This year, it was very difficult for both the audience and Karazin experts to choose the best of the best, because all the participants were incredibly talented and creative.

Karazin experts' award – ‘Maravillas gastronómicas’, a video work by Maria SKVORTSOVA, Yana STUPA, Alana TIBILOVA and Alisa YEVTIFIEVA, 2nd year bachelor students of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University

Nomination ‘Italian language and civilisation’:

Audience Award - ‘I dialetti italiani e le loro particolarità fonetiche’, a video by Oleksandra MELNICHENKO and Anastasiia BERESTOVA, 3rd year undergraduate students of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University

Karazin experts' award – ‘Il cinema del mondo italiano’, a video by Emilia MOZHAROVSKA, Diana HOHULIA, Sofia BILOUSOVA, Sofia NAHORNA and Daryna CHEBERIAK, 2nd year bachelor students of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University
