On May 4, 2026, a webinar on ethics and the use of artificial intelligence in translation brought together students, lecturers, and professional translators. The event focused on how emerging technologies are reshaping translation practices and the profession as a whole.
Mary Nurminen (Tampere University, Finland) presented recent research findings, shared practical examples of AI applications in translation, and outlined key international trends shaping the field.
The webinar addressed a range of important topics, including:
ethical challenges in the use of AI in translation;
the changing professional role of the translator in the digital age;
principles of responsible AI use;
the environmental impact of AI technologies;

Webinar on Immersive Technologies in Foreign Language Teaching Held
On 17 December 2025, a webinar dedicated to the use of immersive technologies in foreign language teaching was held as part of the Erasmus+ DigiFLEd project.
The event was hosted by the Institute of Foreign Philology at Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University and brought together teachers and students interested in integrating modern digital tools into language education. The webinar was delivered by Yuliia Klymovych, PhD, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Intercultural Communication and Foreign Language Education.
The presentation outlined the main types of immersive technologies in education, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and 360° content. Participants discussed the didactic potential of these technologies for developing students’ language, digital, and intercultural competences.
Particular attention was given to the practical application of augmented reality in the learning process. The speaker demonstrated the possibilities of tools such as ARLOOPA, AR BOOK, HALO AR, and ASSEMBLR, and presented examples of learning activities aimed at developing vocabulary, speaking skills, storytelling, and role-play interaction.
The webinar was conducted in an interactive format: participants shared their own experiences, explored ways to adapt AR technologies to different educational contexts, and proposed ideas for the creative use of immersive tools in foreign language classes. The event concluded with a short survey on teachers’ and students’ attitudes towards the use of augmented reality in education.
The webinar confirmed the growing interest of educators in immersive technologies as an effective means of modernising foreign language teaching and enhancing the quality of university education.

In November 2025, Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University hosted an insightful webinar titled “Digital and AR Tools for Developing English Reading Skills.” The event, organized within the Erasmus+ DigiFLEd project, focused on modern approaches to fostering reading competence in the digital age.

Key Deliverables of the Erasmus+ CBHE DigiFLEd Project Presented at the FLES–XIII Conference
At the annual student research conference FLES–XIII “Foreign Languages in the Global Economic and Legal Space,” the Erasmus+ CBHE DigiFLEd project was represented in a session focused on strengthening academic writing competences. The session was delivered by Nataliia Oliinyk, Associate Professor at the Department of Business Foreign Language and Translation at the School of Foreign Languages.
In her presentation, Natalya Oliynyk introduced one of the project’s key outputs — the online course “Writing for Scientific Publications”, designed for students and early-career researchers. The course aims to integrate European standards of academic writing into the curriculum and enhance the quality of scholarly texts through digital tools and methodologically sound practices.
The presentation outlined several approaches the DigiFLEd team is implementing to align academic writing practices with European standards, including:
Special attention was given to how the digital tools and resources introduced within the project can support learners at every stage of producing an academic text, fostering their research autonomy.
The conference also served as an important platform for promoting DigiFLEd initiatives, as students presented their own research projects and demonstrated a readiness to work with modern academic communication tools — one of the central areas advanced by the DigiFLEd project.
We express our gratitude to the conference organizers for supporting the project’s activities and for creating an environment where emerging researchers can apply innovative approaches developed within Erasmus+ DigiFLEd.
On November 12, a webinar entitled “How to search for a job in order to find one” was held by Jooble at the School of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University within the framework of the Erasmus+ DigiFLEd project.
The speaker at the event was Elina Diadiushenko, a Talent Acquisition Partner at Jooble, who shared some extremely valuable information about the different stages of employment with the participants.
Elina Diadiushenko talked about the basic rules for writing a resume, shared life hacks that help to attract the attention of recruiters, and also mentioned digital tools that can be useful when creating a modern CV.
The speaker paid special attention to the topic of cover letters, explaining their purpose, structure, and content, and demonstrating an example of an effective cover letter to accompany a resume.
In addition, participants received valuable advice on job search strategies: where and how to look for vacancies, how to work with a list of companies, and how to establish professional contacts effectively. A valuable bonus for participants was a template for writing reviews, which can be used during a job search.
After that, the speaker emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and talked about current vacancies for candidates with foreign language skills at Jooble, a successful Ukrainian IT product company https://jooble.org/hiring.
At the end of the meeting, there was a lively Q&A session with the audience. Participants asked questions about the employment process, labor market trends, and the role of AI assistants in recruiting.
The webinar took place in a warm and dynamic atmosphere and turned out to be extremely useful for students eager to start their professional careers confidently using digital skills.

On 24 October 2025, the School of Foreign Languages at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University conducted a webinar entitled "From CAT tools to ChatGPT: how digital technologies are changing translation teaching".
The speaker at the event was Olga Pieshkova, PhD, Associate Professor at the Mykola Lukash Department of Translation Studies. The webinar was organised as part of the Erasmus+ DigiFLEd project.
During her presentation, Olga Pieshkova discussed current trends in the use of digital technologies in translation education. Participants learned about the features of machine translation systems, automated translation tools (CAT tools), and how to integrate artificial intelligence into the learning process.
Olga Pieshkova described machine and automated translation, as well as leading translation programmes. Using real-life examples of pun translations, the speaker shared practical advice on using AI tools in the process of developing students' translation skills.
The event took the form of a lively discussion, during which participants actively asked questions and discussed the prospects for using digital technologies in translation teaching.

Webinar “Digital Tools: New Horizons of Effective Teaching” Successfully Held
On September 29, 2025, Oles Honchar Dnipro National University hosted the webinar “Digital Tools: New Horizons of Effective Teaching,” organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ DigiFLEd project. The online event brought together more than 260 participants from across Ukraine and became a platform for exchanging ideas on the integration of modern digital technologies into language education.
The speaker, Svitlana Riabovol, Lecturer at the Department of English for Non-Philological Specialties, demonstrated how digital tools can transform an ordinary class into an interactive and creative space where students are not passive listeners but active participants in the learning process.
Participants explored the functionality of platforms such as Sandbox Padlet, Wayground, Flinga Wall, and Voki, which enable brainstorming, the creation of visually engaging interactive boards, both synchronous and asynchronous collaboration, the design of educational quests, and even the use of animated avatars to voice tasks, explanations, and feedback.
Svitlana Riabovol clearly showed how digital tools serve as a powerful resource for educators, opening new opportunities for creativity, time efficiency, and deeper interaction with students.

The methodological seminar “Gamification in Education” was held!
On June 10, 2025, the School of Foreign Languages of Karazin University held a vibrant methodological seminar “Gamification in Education” organized within the framework of the international Erasmus+ DigiFLEd project “Modernization of University Foreign Language Education Programs through Integration with Information Technology”.
The seminar was the result of the training course “Gamification and Engagement in FL Teaching” from the European partner of the project − Maynooth University (Ireland).
The speaker of the event − Anna Kotova, PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor at the Department of English Philology and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages − presented practical ways of integrating innovative platforms into the educational process.
She demonstrated how to combine the gamified platform Genially with Moodle and create a branched learning scenario that makes the educational process more engaging and interactive.
The event was held in the format of live interaction and concluded with a question and answer session, discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of gamification.

On May 21, 2025, an online webinar on the topic “Digital Assistants in Teaching Vocabulary” was held on the ZOOM platform as part of the Erasmus+ DigiFLEd project “Modernization of University Educational Programs in Foreign Languages through Integration with Information Technologies”.
The project speaker, Iryna Kholmohortseva, drew the audience’s attention to the prerequisites for implementing digitalization in foreign language teaching, taking into account psychological aspects that influence students’ perception of new material.
During the webinar, participants learned about the practical aspects of using the Lextutor platform to adapt and modify educational materials, as well as ways to engage built-in English corpora in students’ academic and project work − particularly for enhancing academic texts.

Project Results in Action: “Education Without Borders” — Philology students presented digital micro-lessons
On April 29, 2025, the School of Foreign Languages at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University hosted an open class “Education Without Borders: Digital Tools in Action.” The event took place within the elective course for bachelor's degree students — “Introduction to CLIL (Content and language integrated learning).”
This course is the result of the work of the international educational Erasmus+ MultiEd project team, aimed at implementing the CLIL methodology in the training of future professionals. Under the guidance of Anna KOTOVA, Associate Professor at the Department of English Philology and Foreign Language Teaching Methods, students confidently showed their methodological, linguistic, and digital knowledge and skills.
The opening speech was delivered by Natalya OLIYNYK, Associate Professor and project manager of DigiFLEd at the university. She introduced the audience to the project's main goals and tasks, emphasizing its importance for modernizing the faculty’s educational process through the integration of digital technologies in foreign language teaching.
Microteaching: Digital Formats, Real Topics
The main part of the class was dedicated to student presentations in the microlearning format — short instructional segments focusing on specific topics or skills, enabling efficient and convenient learning.
First-year students —
Ruslana Shkarlat, Anastasiia Basko, Kateryna Zalazaeva, Mariia Rudakova, Nelli Pelekhata, and Polina Telna — presented micro-lessons on the following topics:
• “Small Wins, Big Results: Mastering Motivation and Rest”
• “Flowers Need Time to Bloom, So Do You”
• “How Does Your Memory Work?”
The presentations incorporated e-learning elements, interactive tools like Kahoot and Padlet, and video excerpts, making the class dynamic, engaging, and up-to-date.
Discussion and Future Prospects
At the end of the event, participants discussed the idea of launching informal meet-ups supported by the DigiFLEd project, where students and instructors can exchange experiences, ideas, and teaching materials for language education using digital technologies (Teaching Talks).

A Series of Webinars Launched within the DigiFLEd Project
On 17 March 2025, Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University hosted the first in a series of webinars within the framework of the Erasmus+ DigiFLEd project.
The theme of the event was "Modern Information Technologies in Foreign Language Teaching". The speaker of the webinar was Dr Nataliia Shcherba, Professor at the Department of Intercultural Communication and Foreign Language Education at Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University.
The webinar brought together nearly 200 academic staff and students from partner universities in both offline and online formats.
The event was preceded by an important training period (autumn 2024 - spring 2025) during which Ukrainian curriculum developers attended specialized courses provided by European partners: Tampere University (Finland), Maynooth University (Ireland) and the University of Western Macedonia (Greece).
Professor Shcherba successfully systematized the acquired knowledge and presented practical aspects of the new curriculum component "Digital Methods in Language Teaching". The webinar participants had the opportunity to explore the latest digital tools and technologies for developing phonetic, grammatical and lexical skills, as well as for improving listening, writing and speaking skills. Interactive platforms for language assessment were also presented.
The next DigiFLEd webinar will be held on 29 April 2025 at the Horlivka Institute for Foreign Languages.
The faculty of the School of Foreign Languages of V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University have started training within the Erasmus+ DigiFLEd project.
As part of the project, from October 2024 to April 2025, the school’s faculty members are participating in a series of training modules aimed at mastering modern educational and methodological content developed by European partner universities: Tampere University (Finland), National University of Ireland Maynooth (Ireland), and the University of Western Macedonia (Greece).
The training modules are being attended by the Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Associate Professor Svitlana Virotchenko, along with esteemed faculty members, including: Professors Olena Morozova and Oleksandr Rebrii; Associate Professors Natalya Oliynyk, Iryna Morozova, Anna Kotova, Iryna Avdieienko, Iryna Kholmohortseva, Hanna Husieva, Olha Kuznietsova, Olga Meleshchenko, Olha Pieshkova, Alevtyna Kaliuzhna, Iryna Lavrinenko, Valeriia Vlasova; Senior Lecturers Olha Matviichuk and Valeriia Nikolaienko; and Lecturers Anastasiia Vakulenko and Diana Klimova.
Within this phase of the DigiFLEd project, the lecturers do the following training modules:
The training provided by the DigiFLEd project is an important step towards modernizing the educational process at the School of Foreign Languages of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The integration of innovative information technologies enhances the quality of teaching, expands the possibilities for scientific research, and promotes the strengthening of global academic cooperation and intercultural dialogue.
From 19 to 23 August 2024, the Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Svitlana Virotchenko, together with the Associate Professor of the Department of Business Foreign Language and Translation, Natalya Oliynyk, took part in the third study visit within the framework of the Erasmus+ DigiFLEd project, which took place at Tampere University, Finland.
The study visit programme was intensive and informative and aimed at improving the participants’ pedagogical and technical competences. Svitlana Virotchenko and Natalya Oliynyk had the opportunity to explore gamification methods to improve teaching efficiency, deepen their knowledge of working with Trados to optimize translation processes, improve their academic writing skills, and study digital tools for testing and machine translation analysis.
Particular emphasis was placed on the practical component, which involved applying the acquired knowledge to real-world professional contexts.
The acquired knowledge and skills will serve as a basis for the modernization of the educational programmes of the School of Foreign Languages of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, contributing to the improvement of the quality of teaching and the accessibility of education for students.
From June 24 to 28, 2024, the DigiFLEd project had its second study visit at the University of Western Macedonia in Kastoria, Greece. V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University team was represented by Svitlana Virotchenko, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Natalya Oliynyk, the Project Manager and Associate Professor at the Department of Business Foreign Language and Translation, Tetiana Chelombitko, Director of the Confucius Institute, and Olga Meleshchenko, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Business Foreign Language and Translation.
During the visit, the DigiFLEd project team engaged in a series of insightful workshops delivered by experts from the University of Western Macedonia, including Kleftodimos Alexandros, Michalis Vrigkas, Georgios Lappas, Maria Matsiola, and Chrysa Markou. Theworkshops focused on the integration of information technologies into the educational process, covering topics such as multimedia content creation for education, multimedia learning principles, AI tools in education, virtual and augmented reality, digital games, interactive activities, and digital storytelling. These new skills will be instrumental in developing academic courses under the DigiFLEd project.
The cultural component of the visit was equally enriching. The School of Foreign Languages team was treated to a guided tour of Kastoria's old town, visits to the Kastorian Aquarium, and the Limnaion prehistoric settlement, utilizing mobile apps developed by the University of Western Macedonia. The participants also had the opportunity to explore the Byzantine and Archaeological Museums, Byzantine churches, and the Dragon's Cave, culminating in a scenic boat tour around Kastoria Lake.

From May 27 to 31, 2024, Svitlana Virotchenko, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages and Head of the Methodological Committee of the School, Anna Kotova, took part in a study visit to Maynooth University (Ireland) as part of the Erasmus+ DigiFLEd project.
This visit was an important step for improving the educational process in the field of foreign philology at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, in particular in the aspect of digitization of education.
Svitlana Virotchenko and Anna Kotova had a great opportunity to become acquainted with modern technologies used to improve the quality of education and attend lectures and seminars dedicated to innovative approaches to teaching, including the use of virtual learning environments, interactive platforms and online resources.
The dean and the Head of the Methodological Committee of the School met with representatives of the administration and teaching staff of Maynooth University. The acquired knowledge and experience will become the basis for the introduction of the latest technologies in the educational process, which will significantly increase the efficiency and accessibility of education for students.
The visit to Ireland also included a cultural program during which Svitlana Virotchenko and Anna Kotova had the opportunity to learn about the country's history and traditions.
From January 30 to February 2, 2024, the team of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University took part in the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+KA2 project “Modernisation of University Education Programmes in Foreign Languages by Integrating Information Technologies” (DigiFLEd), which took place at the University of Tampere (Tampere, Finland).
The program of the visit included the introduction of partner universities from Finland, Ireland, Greece and seven Ukrainian universities, their teams, discussion of the main types of activities, distribution of responsibilities among partners, study of the financial aspects of the project, attendance at lectures and a master class in the World café format - " Digitization in foreign language teaching: trends, challenges and best practices". European coordinators of the project from the University of Tampere - Kate Moore and Yulia Shumilova acted as moderators of the meeting. On the final day of the meeting, the participants attended lectures by colleagues from the University of Tampere: "Strategies for Post-Editing Academic Writing" (Kate Moore), "Teaching Translation Strategies and Techniques" (Annamari Korhonen). The latest trends in translation education in a global perspective, including professional translation education tools and practices, were shared by researchers from the University of Tampere, Kaisa Koskinen and Miia Santalahti.
Educational events were combined with a cultural program, namely a visit to the Tampere city hall and a visit to the Ukraina Talo.
