Multimedia Smartlab – new opportunities thanks to the DigiFLEd project
To mark the 220th anniversary of Karazin University, the School of Foreign Languages received a valuable gift – the Multimedia Smartlab, the opening of which was made possible thanks to the EU Erasmus+ DigiFLEd project!
The DigiFLEd project has made a significant contribution to the development of the School of Foreign Languages by providing it with a modern multimedia space. The Smartlab is equipped with cutting-edge technologies that open up new opportunities for students and teachers, facilitating effective foreign language learning and the development of information technology skills.
The School of Foreign Languages would like to thank everyone involved in the realization of this project. We are confident that the new laboratory will become a powerful tool for improving the educational process and advancing scientific research!
Benchmarking Report Marks DigiFLEd’s 2nd Work Package Completion
The second work package of the DigiFLEd project was successfully completed with the publication of the Benchmarking Report, coordinated by V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University as the national project coordinator. The report, presented by Natalya Oliynyk during the Board meeting on 28 November, was successfully approved.
In addition to an analysis of the data collected, the report contains recommendations on the use of specific tools in foreign language teaching, as well as general advice on how to update foreign language teaching programmes in higher education institutions.
Key recommendations include the development of digital literacy, the modernization of teaching methods, and the integration of ICT tools.

Study Visits to European Partner Universities
As the lead partner for DigiFLEd Work Package 2, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University facilitated the coordination and logistics of three Benchmarking Study Visits within the Erasmus+ DigiFLEd project, liaising between the EU and UA partner universities.
Study Visit 1: Digitalization of the Teaching Environment (National University of Ireland Maynooth, Ireland)
From 27 to 31 May 2024, the Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Svitlana Virotchenko, and the Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages for Professional Purposes, Anna Kotova, participated in the first study visit to Maynooth University, Ireland, hosted by the School of Business and the Centre for Teaching and Learning. The representatives of the School of Foreign Languages were able to gain valuable knowledge about digital tools and teaching methods.
Study Visit 2: Digital Educational Environment in Greece (University of Western Macedonia, Greece)
From 24 to 28 June 2024, the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University delegation, represented by Svitlana Virotchenko, Natalya Oliynyk, Tetiana Chelombitko, and Olga Meleshchenko, visited the University of Western Macedonia in Kastoria, Greece. The team had the opportunity to explore innovative approaches and practices in digital education.
Study Visit 3: Digital Educational Environment in Finland (Tampere University, Finland)
From 19 to 23 August 2024, the Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Svitlana Virotchenko, and the Associate Professor of of the Department of Business Foreign Language and Translation, Natalya Oliynyk, attended the third Benchmarking Visit to Tampere University, Finland. The visit provided valuable insights into Finnish innovations in digital teaching and learning environments.
These study visits to European partner universities enabled the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University team to study best practices, strengthen partnerships, and develop actionable recommendations for integrating digital tools and methodologies into higher education.
