VII International Scientific Forum “Modern Foreign Philology: Research Potential”

We thank all the participants of the forum for their great contribution to the prosperity of science!


On November 23, 2016, the School of Foreign Languages held the VІІ International Scientific Forum “Modern Foreign Philology: Research Potential” organized by the Department of English Language and the Department of German Philology and Translation. At the beginning of the forum, the attendees were greeted with a welcoming address by the Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Valentyna Pasynok.

During the plenary meeting, the participants heard the reports made by the University guests, particularly the Academician of the International Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Michal Verkhola (Slovakia) presented his scientific work “Overcoming Language and Communication Barriers in Teaching Foreign Languages”, and the Head of the Department of Germanic Philology of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, Rostyslav Pylypenko, presented his workMetaphorical Representations of Memorial Concepts”.

The audience was greatly impressed by the reports made by the Doctor of Philology, Academician of the Higher Education Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Head of the Department of English Philology, Viktoriia Samokhina (“Creative Personality of Linguisticus-Joker, or Linguists’ Laughing”), the Doctor of Philology, Head of the Department of Romance Philology and Translation, Svitlana Kryvoruchko (“Phenomenon of ‘HOME’ in Simone de Beauvoir’s Understanding”), the Doctor of Philology Liliia Bezuhla (“Theory of Implicatures: Classification Aspect”), and the Doctor of Philology Yevheniia Bondarenko (“Cognitive Modeling of Manipulative Propaganda Principles in Information Warfare”).

The forum continued within eight round-tables addressing the status of the English and German languages in the modern communicative space, discourse typology, cognitive and conceptual aspects of the language and speech, pragmalinguistics, modern linguodidactic studies, relevant issues of linguostylistics and text linguistics and foreign literature.

In general, the International forum brought together more than 100 scholars, among whom were not only the representatives of Karazin University but also the scholars from Ivano-Frankivsk, Kryvyi Rih, Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, and foreign guests from Slovakia, Portugal, Italy, France and Germany.

The participants of the forum had an opportunity to attend the master-class conducted by the Associate Dean for Methods of Teaching and Innovation of the School of Foreign Languages, Tatyana Varenko. She shared her experience in using blogs in teaching a foreign language.

The forum participants received certificates of participation and memorable gifts. We thank all the participants of the forum for their great contribution to the prosperity of science! May inspiration and success attend them in their further studies and life!
