Doctor Karolina Puchala-Ladzinska:

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of this project. Everything was very well-organized from the very outset, I felt supported at every stage and all my questions were always answered without delay. As for the classes and their participants, I was very impressed with the students I worked with, who demonstrated amazing involvement and diligence during classes, were always prepared and willing to engage in all the class activities. Bearing in mind the difficult situation in Ukraine at the time of the project, I felt truly privileged to be able to work with such motivated young people who demonstrated not only excellent linguistic and translation skills, but also great mental strength. I truly enjoyed every minute of it and I hope the students found the classes both useful and enjoyable.

Professor Andrejs Veisbergs:

Working remotely with Kharkiv students group was an interesting and enriching experience. The students were highly motivated and generally did a really good job. Good understanding of English speeches and terminology (we focussed on transport and communications as well as law enforcement domains). Mostly worked in simultaneous mode from English into Ukrainian, but occasionally did some consecutive speeches with backtranslation. Knowing Russian I could to some extent follow Ukrainian translation. Consecutive was always measured and poised and pleasant to listen. It seems Ukrainian terminology is sometimes problematic, especially in the legal sphere. Students give good self evaluation in feedback. Generally the best students are fit for EU accreditation test.

Finally I must appreciate the ability of students to work in conditions when electricity outages are a normal phenomenon (local generators are switched on), several times there we explosions nearby and once a student was slightly distracted by watching a Russian missile flying by. She did not stop interpreting!
