The history of the Department of German and French began in 1962 with the creation of the Department of German Language (Head - Associate Professor A. Kalinichenko) and the Department of French Language (Head - Senior Lecturer M.Shitova) as separate university-wide departments. In 1977, they became part of the Sсhool of Foreign Languages, and in 1987 as a result of merging into one scientific and pedagogical team, the Department of German and French languages was established under the guidance of Associate Professor V. Pasynok. From 2007, the department was headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Polina Husieva. Since 2017, the head of the department is a candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Iryna Rudnieva.
The faculty consists of 5 associate professors, 8 senior lecturers and 6 lecturers.
