Academics at the Department of Oriental Languages and Intercultural Communication

The Department of Oriental Languages and Intercultural Communication provides high-quality training of Chinese and Arabic language specialists. After graduating from the University, graduates are awarded the qualification of "Philologist, teacher of Chinese/Arabic language and literature, translator of Chinese/Arabic". Specialists receive basic knowledge of two foreign languages: Chinese/Arabic and English. If desired, students have the opportunity to learn the third foreign language (German, Spanish, French, Italian or Japanese). In case of passing the state exam in this discipline, graduates receive additional qualification in the third language.

The goal of the Department of Oriental Languages and Intercultural Communication is to prepare qualified specialists in the field of Chinese/Arabic and teaching Chinese/Arabic as a second foreign language; preparation of students in correspondence courses; ensuring the progress in quality of teaching of the disciplines related to Chinese/Arabic philology; promotion in deepening of interest in learning Chinese/Arabic and literature; development of teaching materials.

The following disciplines are taught at the Department: "Chinese language", "Business Chinese language", "Theory and practice of Chinese translation", "Comparative stylistics", "Comparative grammar", "History of the Chinese language", "Literature of China", "Lexicology of Chinese language", "Country Language studies", "Introduction to foreign philology", "Fundamentals of professional skills", "Methods of teaching foreign languages in secondary school", "Methods of teaching foreign languages in higher school", "Arabic language", ”Introduction to Arabic philology”, "Practice of translating Arabic language".

The Department closely cooperates with the Confucius Institute, created on the basis V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The cooperation is carried out in scientific, methodological and cultural spheres. Students have an opportunity to get acquainted with the traditions of China, to participate in the organization and holding of various cultural events, to get familiarized with educational programs.

يتعاون قسم اللغات الشرقية والتواصل بين الثقافات تعاوناًوثيقاً مع معهد كونفوشيوس، الذي تم إنشاؤه على أساس جامعة خاركوف الوطنية بإسم ف.ن. كارازين. يحيط التعاون المجالات العلمية والمنهجية والثقافية. بإمكانالطلاب التعرف والإطلاع على عادات وتقاليد الصين، المشاركة في تنظيم وإقامة مختلف فعاليات ثقافية، فضلاً عنالتعرف على برامج تعليمية.
