The Department is engaged in training full-time students on the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education within educational programs

and part-time students on the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education within educational programs

The uniqueness of our training is determined by the fact that it embraces every single daytime student and vast majority of distance students, which increases our responsibility for the formation of their professional competence in the fields of translation and interpreting.

The main disciplines taught by the majority of our staff are “Translation/Interpreting Practice – I” (for the students majoring in English) and “Translation/Interpreting Practice – II” (for the students majoring in other languages). Both these disciplines are of cross-cutting character and are taught during five and four semesters correspondingly on the first level and two semesters on the second level. The concept of teaching translation/interpreting practice was developed by the Department’s leading specialists headed by Professor Chernovaty L.M. who also initiated Dictum Factum series of textbooks. Today all the aspects of teaching translation/interpreting practice are covered by the materials developed by the Department’s employees. It is worth mentioning that many of these textbooks have gained considerable popularity in Ukraine’s leading Universities that implement translation-oriented educational programs.

Internships are an essential component of future translator/interpreter training. The cross-cutting program of internships was designed with regard to the requirements of the modern labour market. Internships offered to the students allow them to adapt to different types of workplaces in accordance with their professional rights as stated in Diploma Supplements.
